Everything you need to build your first AI-powered project today. No coding experience required.
Follow these five steps and you'll have a live project on the internet in under 30 minutes. This is the fastest path from zero to shipped.
We recommend Cursor (cursor.com) for visual learners or Claude Code for people who like working in a terminal. Install whichever appeals to you — you can always switch later.
Open a new project and describe what you want in plain English: "Build me a landing page for a dog-walking business with a booking form, testimonials section, and pricing table."
Hit Enter and watch. The AI will scaffold files, write code, and create something functional in under 60 seconds. Don't interrupt it.
Look at what it built. Then say: "Move the pricing section above testimonials" or "Change the color scheme to dark blue and white." Each instruction refines the output.
Connect to Vercel (free tier) and deploy. You'll have a real, live website with a custom URL in under 5 minutes. Share it with someone — that first dopamine hit is real.
Copy these templates, fill in the brackets with your idea, and paste them into Cursor or Claude Code. They're designed to give the AI enough context to produce something usable on the first try.
Example: "Build me a habit tracker that lets users log daily habits and see streaks. Include user authentication, a clean dashboard, and mobile-responsive design. Use Next.js and Tailwind CSS."
Example: "Create an internal tool for my landscaping business that automates invoice tracking. It should pull data from a Google Sheet, display it in a table with filters, and let me export to CSV."
Example: "Build a high-converting landing page for my online coaching program. Include a hero section with headline and CTA, social proof with testimonials, feature grid, pricing section, and FAQ. Dark theme, modern design."
You don't need all of these on day one. Start with an AI coding tool and Vercel. Add the rest as your projects grow.
AI-powered code editor — the visual IDE for building with AI
Terminal-based AI coding — powerful for experienced builders
One-click deployment — get your project live for free
Version control — save your project history and collaborate
Backend-as-a-service — database, auth, and storage in one
AI UI generator — describe a component and get production code
These are the patterns we see from students in the first week. Avoid them and you'll move twice as fast as everyone else.
Writing code yourself instead of describing what you want
Instead: Always start with a plain-English description. The AI is better at translating intent into code than you are at writing it.
Giving vague prompts like "make it better"
Instead: Be specific: "Add a loading spinner while data fetches" or "Increase the font size of the headline to 48px."
Trying to build everything at once
Instead: Build one feature at a time. Get it working, then move to the next. Small, testable increments.
Not deploying early
Instead: Deploy after your first working version. A live URL motivates you and lets you get feedback from real people.
Ignoring errors instead of pasting them back
Instead: When something breaks, copy the error message and paste it back to the AI. It can fix its own mistakes faster than you can Google the answer.
Follow this daily plan and you'll go from complete beginner to someone with a deployed project and real skills in one week.
Day 1: Install Cursor (or Claude Code). Follow Step 1 above. Deploy a hello-world landing page to Vercel.
Day 2: Use the Landing Page prompt template to build a real landing page for an idea you have. Deploy it.
Day 3: Add interactivity — a contact form, an email signup, or a simple calculator. Learn to iterate with the AI.
Day 4: Build something with a database. Use Supabase to store data (a to-do list, a simple CRM, a habit tracker).
Day 5: Add user authentication so people can sign up and log in. Supabase Auth makes this a one-prompt task.
Day 6: Polish day — improve the design, fix mobile responsiveness, add loading states. Make it feel professional.
Day 7: Share your project publicly. Post it on social media, send it to a friend, or show it to a potential client.
The AI Coding Starter Kit gets you started. The Xero Coding bootcamp gets you to the finish line. In 4 weeks, students go from zero to deployed products, new revenue streams, and career-changing skills.
